The Prepared Adult (Never Stops Learning)

Here at GMN, we are establishing ourselves as an educational hub for Montessori. We are continuing the authentic Montessori Nursery education that Barbara Knaap has provided in Abu Dhabi since 2005 (at International Montessori Nursery previously).

We foster the 'Prepared Adult' pedagogy at GMN. Over these past two terms, we have held regular staff continued professional development sessions focused on best practices in presenting the 'Activities of Everyday Living' curriculum. We also hold a weekly staff briefing which includes mindfulness in our session to prepare ourselves to calmly guide the week's learning.

Parents are a child's first, and most influential teachers. To support this, we have recently held a parent workshop focused on 'Montessori Discipline' and positive strategies parents can do at home. As Dr Maria Montessori said, "The real preparation for education is a study of one's self. The training of the teacher who is to help life is something far more than a learning of ideas. It includes the training of character, it is a preparation of the spirit." As teachers and parents, we are role models for our children, demonstrating how we manage ourselves, and the choice of words we use all influence how our children develop and learn. The more we can learn and adapt our approach to be aligned with the Montessori philosophy, the better our children will grow and develop into resilient, thriving adults.
